December means many things. Eggnog everywhere everything. Family. Travel. Traveling to family. Traveling with family.

Accidentally traveling without family.

Weird corporate parties. Lil kids everywhere. People trying to make crazy deadlines.

Cool house parties. Random concerts.

And hella. Crazy. End-of- year. Lists:

  • Favorite albums
  • Favorite videos
  • Years-in-review
  • Worst fails

Even the most staid print publications turn into Buzzfeed for the month of December. (#insidery)

And then there’s trend reports and predictions. How fun are those? (They are so fun!)

That said, venture capital investors are not Buzzfeed editors, so let’s adjust expectations.

In the clip at the top of this post, Rich Miner talks smartphone trends. They were pretty realistic and short-term.

He suggested smartphones will soon be smarter about using passively collected actual data ($restaurant you’re eating at, detected by location) to predict and record likely information (what you ate, despite never typing it in, photographing it/whatevs.)

(Related: today Nike released a video about NikeFuel Missions, a game driven by real-life everyday movements, passively collected.)

Something something Siri.

Let’s wrap this up in a “mega-trend” for 2013: way less manually entering stuff. More stuff just magically recorded. For regular folks. For individuals (not just businesses).  (Terrifying, yet desirable.)
