New Digg uses Twitter for content, requires...
Extreme Makeover, Digg Edition happened today.
As of now, there are no comments. Just weighted/voted “top” stories. I’m trying to figure out how they determine “Top” and “Popular.” It seems to be weighted/seeded as much by a story’s Twitter activity as by its own internal Diggs (votes). Even if it isn’t, Twitter shares are certainly...

Facebook Event ads for fun and profit
Some garage sales are lucky to have a $150 total haul, let alone a $150 up-front marketing investment. But you if have collectibles you can target against, this is such a fun hack- Facebook Event ads for your garage sale.

In light of the speculation about bots on Facebook, and tech journalists who have resorted to trolling Hacker News for stories, I’d like to share a story about...

How to find your Twitter friends on Tumblr while...
[update 20121022 (24 days later). Called it. Twitter killed Find Friends access on Tumblr. So bummed]
If you’re a brand (or person) on Twitter with a set of strong relationships, it’s great to be able to bring them over to other networks you’re a part of like Instagram, Tumblr, and Pinterest.
Except.
Twitter recently took away “find friends” from Instagram....

Pinterest blogs their new categories
Pinterest acknowledges the new categories, but not a peep about the here-for-three-days corgi category.

If you’re brand new to Pinterest and want to discover more pins apart from people you follow, Pinners would tell you to check out the Categories. Clicking the Categories menu lets you view whole sections of pins about your favorite interests, whether it’s “Food & Drink”,...

How to search other, lesser social networks to...
If you’re ever uncertain if Twitter is down, check Bing realtime search (of Facebook).
And then check Google+ (whose trending topics are poorly calculated, but whose search is good.)
Then stare into their abyss. Then get Twitter notifications from all your devices calming you, reassuring you, that you’ll never go twungry again.

Help me help you scrape (good) Twitter job posts...
While I’m not looking for work, I have a few Twitter friends who are. I also have some buddies who aren’t out of work, but are freelancers and regularly dip into a stream of gig announcements.
This post is not about a need for another job site. There are so many interesting, awesome thing happening with that. I couldn’t out-create/out-creaTIVE them, and don’t want to.

The SoundCloud Player in expanded tweets on...
On June 12th, SoundCloud and Twitter announced that a SoundCloud player would be coming soon to expanded tweets. Just as YouTube URLs in tweets reveal a neat little player right on the page, the announcement suggested that soon (“rolling out”) SoundCloud URLs would enjoy the same convenience. (And yay! Coz we all know we do the YouTube-to-play-a-song-hack. SoundCloud in Twitter would...

New Pinterest categories in full effect
Notice anything different?
Notice any new… cateCORGIes categories on Pinterest?
[update July 23rd: The Corgi category is gone, after about 3 days! RIP Corgi-era. Also confirmed: many users are not seeing the refresh at all yet.]
Sometime around July 19th, Pinterest added a few new categories, removed a couple, and edited a few.
I couldn’t find any official or unnofficial...

Your Facebook marketing investment's Law of...
(Just capturing some tweets I made on the subject. There was a bit of a response on Twitter, and I don’t want to lose these notes to the Twitter memory hole. Fully fleshed-out blog post/theory coming.)
If you like getting all X-Files about social media, you should probs get on the mailing-list, so you don’t miss important stuff.

Frank Ocean ruins your plans
When Frank Ocean embedded a stream of his new album, Channel Orange, on his Tumblr last week, he p0wned our hearts with a surprise attack. In-person, online, wheerevs… we lost our breaths talking, tweeting, YouTube-ing, Tumblring about this thing that dropped in our laps. Forget about what you thought you were thinking about last Monday/Tuesday…
Maybe we were so shook coz it was a...

iPad people, let's talk about iBooks.
I don’t have an iPad. I’m not philosophically opposed to them, I didn’t choose some other brand’s interpretation of a tablet. I just generally slow my roll when it comes to hardware. I’m a software fiend, I sign up for everything: betas, alphas… I run Mac OS X, Windows (3 versions, yikes!), Linux (2 versions)… But for hardware I just let it cook.

*Consumer* subscription businesses
I’m researching consumer subscription businesses.
These are businesses where the customer has given permission to be charged monthly/ annually for regular access to a physical or digital good.
I’d greatly appreciate any other examples you have. Feel free to list your own business if it applies.
Below is a screenshot from the Google Doc you can edit.
